Prostate Cancer Tools

This page provides tools for patients and doctors to calculate and evaluate a patient's health journey. Read the descriptions of our various tools and click on the apps below to view.

Prostate Cancer Risk Calculator

This app will help you understand the risk of finding prostate cancer after a biopsy. Urology referral patterns and prostate biopsy decision-making have changed in the last 10 years, with biopsy being utilized less frequently in men deemed to be at low risk of prostate cancer. As a result, patients who undergo biopsy today are at greater risk for prostate cancer as compared to patients undergoing biopsy 10 years ago. In light of changing risk levels, it is important to be able to communicate the risk of prostate cancer to patients based on contemporary practice.

We have developed and validated a tool that can help urologists communicate the risk of cancer (no cancer, Gleason 6, Gleason 7 or higher) to patients based on contemporary biopsy practices.

Prostate Cancer Treatment Options

If you were recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and want to know which treatments to read about before meeting with your urologist, this app will help you learn which treatments similar patients have received based on data from the MUSIC registry.

The information in this app are not medical advice, but simply a way for you to help you prepare prior to meeting with your urologist.

Prostate Cancer Pathologic Outcomes

This tool helps urologists communicate to patients the risk of different pathologic findings at the time of radical prostatectomy. The tool is meant to be used as part of pre-operative counseling.

Prior to performing a radical prostatectomy, you may consider reviewing the risk of various pathologic outcomes with your patients. These include the following:

We have developed an app using MUSIC data that predicts the probability of each of these endpoints.

Prostate Cancer Sexual Function

This app is designed to provide men with prostate cancer who are undergoing or have undergone a radical prostatectomy information about their expected patient-reported outcomes.
